Written for his young daughter, Claude Debussy wrote in the dedication: «To my dear little Chou-Chou, with her father's tender apologies for what is to follow.» As a side note, «Jimbo,» when spoken with a French accent, sounds like the English «Jumbo», the elephant doll to which it refers.
