Allan Stephenson was born in Wallasey, near Liverpool, in 1949. In 1973, after studying cello in Manchester, he moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where he still works as a cellist, conductor and composer. Stylistically his compositions belong to the English late romantic school, although modern rhythms and harmonics are also included. Stephenson's credo, that music should entertain and please the listener is always apparent. (Source: preface «Introduktion und Allegro»)
