Trio for Oboe, Viola and Harp

My trio is divided into three movements: The first movement consists of uninterrupted monochrome lines running simultaneously (but at different time levels, which have a high degree of mutual correspondences but never become identical: Shadow forms, distortion of the contours as in the concave mirror, blurring, simultaneously movable and immovable representation of an object. Besides the complex, dense sound image of the first movement, the second movement appears very relaxed, transparent, colorful. It consists of nine parts that can be freely joined together. The final form of both the overall form and the details are determined by the performers only during the performance, and the two-part final movement has the function of an epilogue: Reverberation, dark colours, memory, resolution... - Heinz Holliger
