Allan Stephenson was born in Wallasey, near Liverpool, in 1949. In 1973, after studying cello in Manchester, he moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where he still works as a cellist, conductor and composer. Stylistically his compositions belong to the English late romantic school, although modern rhythms and harmonics are also included.
